It is very difficult to find out the truth about Geopolitical activities as they tend to be surrounded by media bias and information is kept confidential by Governments, which only gets revealed in declassified/redacted documents many years after the event. Below are some interesting thoughts on various situations evolving throughout the world. This section will only mention geopolitics within recent history (~2000+), for earlier accounts of geopolitics please see the History section of this website.

History is written by the victor. Hence I include speeches by figures which are controversial in the mainstream, in order to understand the situation from their perspective.
It is also important to note that propaganda was used in Nazi Germany to control the thoughts of its population without their awareness. It has been 70 years since then and our understanding of the human brain has improved significantly. I wonder how effective modern-day propaganda would be now? Would we not be aware that we were being controlled just like the German population during WW2?

Another important point is that most warfare today occurs in the forms of trade sanctions, free trade agreements, loans, financial flows and economic destruction.

A wealth of knowledge on the subject of Geopolitical history (past and present) and many other things is Noam Chomsky, a linguistics professor at MIT.

Since NATO was originally created it has been expanding its member countries eastwards towards Russia despite promising that it would not. It has set up outposts along the Russian border, which eventually lead to Russia retaliation in Ukraine to warn Ukraine not to join NATO.
Since the invasion of Ukraine, due to the US not requiring much energy input from abroad because of fracking, US and Saudi Arabia teamed up to crash oil prices extremely low. This is because Russia is an exporter of national gas and depends heavily on it for its income. This had terrible effects on the Russian currency and economy.

The US have also tried to connect oil pipelines from its allies in the middle-east to the EU, so that the EU does not need to import gas from Russia any longer, which would further cripple its economy. The plans for the pipelines run through Syria, which is current where the proxy war between the US and Russia is occurring, as Assad honored his allegiance to Russia by refusing the offer to build the pipelines.

A very large advantage Russia has is its low national debt, especially given that the US is reaching its ‘debt ceiling’ in the coming month, which needs to be extended.
Official Russian national debt: 11.7% of GDP
Official US national debt: 102% of GDP
Lots of Russian private debt was actually borrowed from Western banks as they were running at lower interest rates than in Russia. Therefore if those private Russian institutions were to stop repaying their debts, this would cause significant financial trouble for Western Banks.

In 1953, the Central Intelligence Agency engineered a coup in Iran, known as Operation Ajax, against the democratically elected government of Mohammed Mossadegh. Why? The overthrow of the Iranian government came after Mossadegh attempted to nationalize the Western oil companies in his country. The West was quick to impose economic sanctions. These sanctions were followed by the overthrow of Mossadegh and the installation of a U.S. friendly dictator (Shah of Iran.)

  • People’s committees ran the country

“I did all I could to help people understand the concept of real democracy, where people’s committees ran our country. But that was never enough, as some told me, even people who had 10 room homes, new suits and furniture, were never satisfied, as selfish as they were they wanted more. They told Americans and other visitors, that they needed “democracy” and “freedom”… never realizing it was a cut throat system, where the biggest dog eats the rest, but they were enchanted with those words, never realizing that in America, there was no free medicine, no free hospitals, no free housing, no free education and no free food, except when people had to beg or go to long lines to get soup”. ~ Mu’ummar Qaddafi
